The transfers process can be started from the “Transfer” option underneath the Member menu. Often the process starts when the member has selected a new church and has talked with the Clerk at the new church. The Clerk can click on “Members – To receive” and search by the original Church and/or Name. By typing in the Name of the member and clicking “Search Member” the system can find the member in any church using ACMS.
Clicking on the box to the left of the correct member, and clicking “Add” starts the Member transfer process by sending a request for membership. This process works great for churches that use ACMS. For those that don’t use the ACMS software, please consult “Appendix A – Processing transfers from Churches not using ACMS.”
The Sending Church gets a notification of the Transfer Request. They will need to approve the sending of this member. They can do this by logging into ACMS and going to the Member, Transfer, and going to the Members – To Send section. All of the members that have been requested are listed there. Simply click on the Approve checkbox button.
The receiving church must vote the new member into church fellowship. Upon looking at the “Members – To Receive” section, they will notice the status of “Sent”. They will need to:
- select the member (check box on the left)
- and then list the Date of Vote as well as the Minute Number
- then click on the Receive button
